It’s hard to get settled into the fediverse for a set of distinct but interlocking reasons, starting with “How do I pick a server?”
The Fediverse (Mastodon, ActivityPub and a whole lot more) is to me one of the more interesting things happening on the Web right now.
Mastodon is the most common entry point (though there are image and video sharing services, and many other new kinds of service and networks emerging)
But a common refrain is getting started is confusing–unlike a centralised service like Instagram, there’s no one place to join. Your first step is to choose a server.
