Good alt text means that screen reader users get the same ‘meaning’ from the page as a fully sighted user. But sometimes that’s easier said than done.

At Conffab we use alternative text a lot-not just as the value of alt attributes for images, but extensively for converting slides in videos into our accessible format. So I think a lot about how these descriptions should work.
