Things I Don’t Know About AI
February 23, 2024
The more I learn about AI markets, the less I think I know. I list questions and some thoughts.
In most markets, the more time passes the clearer things become. In generative AI (“AI”), it has been the opposite. The more time passes, the less I think I actually understand. For each level of the AI stack, I have open questions. I list these out below to stimulate dialog and feedback.

There is a lot of (often well placed) skepticism about generative AI out there. Hot off a multi-year run of “crypto and blockchain as the next big thing” it would be easy to dismiss large language models as simply the next iteration of tech-grift.
And there is a lot of it out there.
But underneath I strongly feel (based on a lot of experience working with these technologies across development and elsewhere–no this is not written by an LLM) there is something transformative here.
Well worth a read if you’re interested in the underlying landscape of research and industry.
