Code Leaders '25 Session 1

Wednesday 11th June 25 9:00 am

Leadership is in part about making decisions, and following through on them.

To open Code Leaders, Andrea Magnorsky will consider the anatomy of a decision, and how we can create and distribute knowledge to effectively drive decision making.

Then Prakriti Mateti shares how her team made what the legendary Joel Spolsky calls the "single worst strategic mistake that any software company can make". Why? And what can we learn from them?

Code Leaders '25 Session 2

Wednesday 11th June 25 11:00 am

LLMs are already well on the way to transforming software engineering. While much of the focus is on code generation, the ramifications for engineering leaders is far greater than that. In this session, first Sarah Taraporewalla looks at software delivery beyond code generation, and the lessons they've learned at Thoughtworks through experimentation, and real world use. Then Geoffrey Huntley casts an eye to the future, with a call to action for technical leaders: to steer teams beyond fear and into growth, to reframe up-skilling as a strategic imperative, and to embrace the messy, necessary reinvention of what it means to be a software engineer.Watch Session

Code Leaders '25 Session 4

Wednesday 11th June 25 3:30 pm

We wrap up Code Leaders with, as has become tradition, a session focussed on technology. Stephanie Eckles will explore the current state of CSS, and new features like Cascade Layers which help vastly improve CSS architecture, while Fershad Irani explores the vision of a grid-aware web that responds dynamically to the availability of clean power sources. We'll examine the role that engineering leaders and decision makers can play in pioneering a web that operates with a sustainable focus.Watch Session
