A color contrast checker interface showing a background color of oklch(47.6% 0.319 303) and a foreground color of oklch(100% 0.17 0). The contrast ratio is 4.56:1, which fails WCAG AA for normal text but passes for large text.

OddBird’s color tool not only checks contrast ratios, but supports the new CSS color formats and spaces.

For years designers and developers were limited to colors in the sRGB colors space, using formats like hexadecimal, RGB, and HSL. As display technology progressed, so too has CSS, and we have access to additional color spaces and wider gamuts. These advances led us to build OddContrast, a color editing and testing tool that handles our new world of modern color formats.

There are quite a few color contrast checkers, but many if not most focus on hexadecimal and the RGB color space.

But CSS has introduced quite a few new color formats and spaces in recent years that are now widely supported so Oddbird (home of speaker Miriam Suzanne) have developed OddContrast a tool to help with color contrast and more for these new formats and spaces.
