Correct file handling can be cumbersome without proper system integration and selection of which applications can handle what types of files.Web solutions have previously been disconnected from this because of limitations in the browser to system integration.This is no longer the case, and this post will cover the key parts of making a solution that works.

Project Fugu, which we’ve covered quite a bit at our conferences, an outshoot of Progressive Web Apps, is a joint initiative by a number of organisations to bring more app-like APIs to the Web platform.
One area where there has been a lot of innovation is in integration into the file system, which particularly on desktop and with certain browser is quite advanced.
This article looks in practical terms in some more detail at some of this.
