The first working draft of HTML5, then known as Web Applications 1.0, was released on September 1, 2005.
For context, that’s almost 18 months before the first iPhone was released, over 3 years before Android was released, and over 4 years before the terms Mobile Firstand Responsive Web Design were coined.
